Well, only a mere 4 months after the convention ended, here’s our Kublacon 2008 report. We recorded this about a week or two after the con, but it took me quite a while to get around to editing it. Let’s hope the next one goes more quickly.
As usual, I took a bunch of pictures and they’re all up in the Roll 2d6 Flickr account, so if you’re at your computer you can follow along.
Links to games and companies we mentioned:
Carcassonne

OK, now that the least-probable event in the world has occurred (that is: we’ve posted again), I’m turning into a penguin and me arms are retreating in to the sunset while the buildings wash up and down on the beach.
Sky Galleons of Mars was mentioned by Nate- Best episode ever!
I’m partial
I’m only 10 minutes in, but it’s great so far. Sad to see you guys podcast so little recently. The Flickr gallery is essential viewing.
The 2d6 is back!
Woooohoooo!!!!
Another Roll 2d6!!! Now I can take a break from all of those other gaming podcasts that function as my “Adam-and-Nate-surrogates”.
I’ll post again after I get a chance to listen. Best episode ever, eh? I CAN’T WAIT!!!!
Hey guys great to have another show!
You can get Legends of the Old West from the Warstore – http://www.thewarstore.com/product10516.html
I ran a game of Wings of War at the convetion. I’m going to run it again at the next con. Look for it because I would love to meet you guys. I love your show.
Finally the dice are rolling again. I missed your highly entertaining podcast. As always: games do not interest me a 100% but it’s still amusing to listen to you guys.
Hallelujah!
Hey guys – glad to hear from your podcast again. My life’s been busy, so no voice feedback this time, but wanted to let you know I’m enjoying the shows, partner!

My kids dressed as 2d6 for halloween – thought you would appreciate it

Hope you fellers don’t dawdle on the next show. This one was real fine!
Great show. Please do another soon. You guys are my favorite of the dozen-odd podcasts I listen to.
Glad to hear you guys again, I’ve been waiting for a new episode for awhile. If you’re in an Age of Sail mood, Empire Total War is coming out in february and should help scratch that itch if you enjoy PC games.
woot — more Roll 2d6! This is why I keep my ancient Roll 2d6 feed around, worshipped by a degenerate band of eight-eyed mutant bytes — in the hopes that a new show will someday finds its way down the pike…
Thanks for the new show and the rundown of everything you played at Kubalacon. It sounds like a blast, and reminds me that I have “The Far Side of the World” to finish reading one day this fall.
The naval and western games sound like a blast, and I’m thinking of tracking down that baseball game; sounds like something my daughter might enjoy.
Cheers for this episode. I always like the new content that you give out. Keep up the good work and hope that you post some stuff in ‘09
Guys Guys.
I’d love to hear a new eqisode.
How about you pickup a copy of Ideology – its my new favorite game.
Even better come to Melbourne (Australia) and join our weekly boardgame night.
Yes, a new Roll2d6 episode would be awesome!!!
Some suggestions for content, based on things from past episodes:
Review of Star Trek Red Alert
Review of Hordes of the Things (or DBA, or both!!!)
Reprisal of “Operation Thrifty Grognard”
Reviews of some newer Cheap Ass Games stuff (have you guys tried Cube Farm? I recently converted my non-gamer sister into a gamer with this one)
…although….April is coming…and that means…Pre-Kubla show!!!!!
Just found your podcast. You guys are great. I use to live in the Bay Area, Kublcon is fantastic.
I just recently picked up Car Wars using Vassal, you guys should check that out.
There isn’t a place to email you guys, can you email me. I have a couple of questions for you.
Matt
I forgot to mention, I just started a blog. check it out.

Matt
I am starting to worry…Kublacon is quickly approaching, and still no “Pre-Kubla” show. The Pre- and post-Kubla shows have always been the mainstays…
Oops…forgot to mention.
Matt V, AWESOME blog page! I am always happy to see someone else who plays BT without a hex grid. I have tried to run BT this way at several conventions, and always seem to have trouble selling people on the hexless miniatures rules. That has always been very strange to me since the game doesn’t seem to be too much different/harder without the grid (the main difference to me is that the terrain just looks SO MUCH COOLER without hexes all over it). Nicely done!
7 months since the last episode…
KublaCon 2009 just a few weeks away…
Sigh…
Roll 2d6… R.I.P.
Well, I am still here, and I am planning to go to Kublacon. I just haven’t had the will to put together another episode in a while. We had joked about this becoming the Annual Kublacon Podcast, but it looks like this may be the case. At any rate, I’d like to do a post-con episode and I’ll have to see if we can do so.
–Adam at Roll 2d6
Roll2D6 was (?) the funnierst podcast on boardgames. Apreciate your work. Please go on!
Adam,
I knew you’ve been around since I occasionally see your postings on BGG, but I’ll add my voice to the chorus of “we miss your show”. You had soooo many great threads that were just left dangling…Federation Commander, Red Alert, etc…
Maybe you could put out a casting call to have fans of the show pick-up the recording of individual episodes, that you and Nate could then slap a three-minute intro on and upload. You guys could become a franchise!!!! At this point, all of your avid listeners know your style so well, we could probably do a decent (just-shy of inadequate) job of emulating the style of the show.
So I was pondering roll2d6, trying to think of ways to convince Adam and Nate to dust-off the USB headsets again, and it occurred to me that perhaps I was missing something. Maybe Adam and Nate had left some critical clue for us all that we are missing. So I went back the Ancient Texts, and lo and behold, when I got to Episode 18, I believe I may have found something useful.
